It is necessary to build our autonomy in the management of problematic situations, by first becoming conscious of the richness of our skills in this field. On an individual level, we solve conflicts every day without resorting to legal action, by calming the anger of a loved one, by asking a third party to intervene, by offering a drink to someone to whom we have made an offensive comment. Because we use them daily, we are rarely aware of these skills. On a collective level, we have thousands of years of experience in conflict resolution beyond the legal system. This is not to defend an enchanted view of past societies or cultures because of their lack of recourse to forms of punishment that are familiar to us. It is a matter of underlining thatdistant the legal system is not an absolute horizon and that restorative and transformative forms of justice have a long history. *
Harassed to prove - We can gain at the end - By dint of community and benevolence - Authority will one day no longer have any sense - Justice shouldn’t mean punish - If we feed our responsabilities - With desire for integrity - We would get rid of instances - That govern our lives - Without ever worrying - Defunding those who inflict senseless sentences - Investing in possibilities to repair - To filling in the gaps of a model - That only responds to the needs of revenge
